Anonymous web browsing is browsing the World Wide Web while hiding the user's IP address and any other personally identifiable information from the websites that one is visiting. A degree of anonymity can be achieved by using a proxy server or a VPN server. If the proxy server is trusted, anonymity will be retained because only the information on the proxy server is visible to outsiders. Anonymous web browsing is generally useful to internet users who want to ensure that their sessions can not be monitored. For instance, it is used to circumvent traffic monitoring by organizations which want to find out or control which web sites employees visit. Anonymous Web Servers act as placing a wall between the user and the website which he/she is visiting. These servers can be used to bypass restrictions and visit those sites that might be blocked in a specific country, office or school. Some people only use these servers to protect their on line identity. From Wikipedia under the

Q. At my school they have a filter in the network that blocks just about everything. (This filter is in the network, it's not a program installed on the computer) For a while we had a great working proxy called mathwhizzer.com (.com i think..) But someone obviously got caught or squealed because it's blocked now. You can't even look up anything containing the word "Proxy" on google, msn, yahoo, aol, and any other search engine you can think of. So, instead I look up the words "anonymous browsing at school" (and other similar words) and I still get lists of proxies, but not nearly the amount of results when I could actually look up "Proxy". So, the question here is do you know of any working proxies that will actually work, and do not… [cont.] Asked by Joe S - Wed Mar 26 00:05:55 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I don't think they audit logs to block certain sites. Usually it's very well handled by filtering software itself. Modern day filtering software are very smart that it will block virtually everything that smells fishy. If you can't google for fresh prxies - get yourself hooked up to a source for new prxies so if they block a one you have new ones. Please see the link below at sources section for a yahoo group sending out new prxies in daily email. Also I have included a new prxy to get you started.
