Proper nounWorld Wide Web
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. The World Wide Web, abbreviated as WWW and W3 and commonly known as The Web, is a system of interlinked hypertext documents contained on the Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them using hyperlinks. Using concepts from earlier hypertext systems, English physicist Sir Tim Berners-Lee, now the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, wrote a proposal in March 1989 for what would eventually become the World Wide Web. He was later joined by Belgian computer scientist Robert Cailliau while both were working at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1990, they proposed using "HyperText [...] to link and access information of various kinds as a web of nodes in which the user can browse at will", and released that web in December. "The World-Wide Web (W3) was developed to be a pool of human knowledge, which would allow collaborators in remote sites to share their ideas and all aspects of a common project." If two projects are independently created, rather than have a central figure make the changes, the two bodies of information could form into one cohesive piece of work. From Wikipedia under the

What does encryption do to secure your information as it is transferred across the World Wide Web? Asked by Felicia W - Thu Feb 7 12:11:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Encryption is the security technology which protects the privacy of information sent over a network (e.g. your bank details). In a well-designed system, only the intended recipient is able to decrypt the encrypted data stream to recover the information. However, encryption does not guarantee trust and authentication. Web or eBusiness systems may hold data that you wish to protect, such as business critical or personal information. Encryption increases the security of data transmissions, reducing the risk of third-party observers being privy to content (e.g. the password to your online banking services). Encryption can also be used for stored data. Encryption can help protect your website or eBusiness information assets from unauthorized… [cont.] Answered by G - Thu Feb 7 15:58:58 2008 How do I get my website on the world wide web?
Q. I have Yahoo and created a website on geocities. My problem is I can only find my website through Yahoo. If I go through Google or MSN it won't come up. Do I need to have a Domain or Domain name to get my website to be available on the world wide web? HELP!!! Asked by William C - Sun Oct 22 20:29:16 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. A domain name is useful but much better to get your own web space rather than being cheesy with geocities. The googlebot will have a major problem indexing your website and many people will avoid it so your site will be very low in google ranking (if ranked at all). You can get cheap web space and domains are very cheap so don't be fooled into thinking free means cool - spend a small bit of money and you will reap the benefits later on when you want to try more advanced scripting and other coding. You will need a decent FTP program to upload your web pages, scripts etc. A good understanding of HTML is pretty essential and is better in the long-run verses using software to create your site. Good luck. Answered by Phil G - Sun Oct 22 20:39:36 2006 From Yahoo Answer Search: "world wide web" www.standoutstocks.com Stocks That Stand Out For Jan. 8th, 2010 Are Jan 7 ...
